Modern Embroidery – An Ancient Art is Reborn

Modern Embroidery – An Ancient Art is Reborn

Modern embroidery, otherwise known as stitch art, is growing in popularity among art and craft lovers. Traditional flower embroidery absolutely remains a much-loved stitch art style, but as the appeal of this ancient craft broadens, savvy creatives are seeking alternative embroidery patterns and designs that embrace a broad range of art preferences.

Modern embroidery patterns and designs

Modern embroidery patterns are not just for the experienced embroidery artist. There are a range of simple beginner level stitches that can be used to create something truly impressive (that people will not believe was created by a beginner!). For example, Stitch Studio embroidery patterns are created specifically with beginners in mind, with only two or three basic stitch types in each pattern.

Imagine displaying one of your own hand-made stitch art embroidery masterpieces in your entryway for visitors to admire. There is something so special about decorating your walls with décor that you have personally created with love.

What are embroidery kits?

Many embroidery beginners choose to start out with an embroidery kit. Embroidery kits come with all the materials needed to get started, and in some cases they include step-by-step guides and colour photos. This can help with building confidence and skill. Embroidery kits also make a gorgeous gift for a craft loving friend!

Free modern embroidery patterns

Once skills and confidence increase, and the obsession kicks in, embroiderers may choose to seek out low cost or free embroidery patterns, and there are plenty of options out there to choose from. Some embroidery artists give away free patterns (such as through free gifts when subscribing to a newsletter), other savvy stitchers make use of basic colouring books to trace a pattern onto fabric. There are also Facebook groups you can join where patterns are shared amongst members.

As you can see, there are many options to consider when embarking on your stitching journey, and plenty of opportunities to obtain free or low-cost modern embroidery patterns and designs. Why not find out why this revitalised art form is appealing to a growing variety of people, both young and old?
